To top off our week of giving back while planning your wedding, of course we must talk about your dress! A wedding gown is such a lovely and special thing, and it is hard not to become sentimentally attached to it. For those that can part with their gown, donating it to the Making Memories Foundation [...] There are so many events and parties that surround a wedding, consider rounding up your ladies and gents for a pre-wedding community service party. Set a date and invite everyone who is able to join you for an afternoon of service followed by revelry. Visit Network For Good to find a charity near you.
Though many centerpieces will be taken home by your guests, some will be left on the the tables with several days left of cheer in them. Arrange for them to be collected and dropped off to a local nursing home, hospice, or assisted living community. In some cases, an organization such as Flower Power may [...] The menu you’ve planned for your wedding is delicious, and you would hate to see one bit of it go to waste. Donate your leftover food (untouched, of course) to a foodbank, which will distribute it to those that need it. Ask your caterer, hotel, or venue if they have a group with which they work. [...] This week in the US, we celebrate Thanksgiving. In the midst of all the wedding frippery and fantasy, it serves as a gentle reminder to be thankful for all the wonderful things in our lives.
