Rock My Wedding

We are so pleased to welcome Charlotte from the fabulous sassy blog, Rock My Wedding!   I love popping over to RMW to see what chic things the girls have found as well as some gorgeous real weddings.  Charlotte has come ’round to share how Rock My Wedding began, and about her own authentically her wedding!

So then…

Here goes.

Just after my wedding, I started writing a little blog about my planning experience, it became pretty popular and by the time I had finished had had over 150,000 views and a lot of positive feedback from lots of lovely brides to be.

I think it was because after getting caught up in a whole load of “what you should have” and planning a Big Day that was all about what was expected and not what we actually wanted ….we decided to cancel everything and start from scratch.

We then planned the greatest day of our lives in about 4 months…

And it was the best decision we ever made.

Some aspects of the wedding were quite traditional -I wore a beautiful Amanda Wakely Ivory mermaid gown and we married in the “knock-your-socks off it’s so darn gorgeous” Notley Abbey that was once the home of Laurence Olivier and Vivienne Leigh but is now a private hire venue for W-day celebrations.

Other traditions that just weren’t “us” we ignored and generally tailored the day towards surrounding ourselves by the people we love, a ton of music and a whole load of fun and laughter.

I had initially got MAJORLY stressed over what colour “theme” we should adopt and in the end we just didn’t bother with one. Instead we had lots of different blooms in an assortment of bold bright shades and filled the place with colour.

I also disliked so many of the standard bridesmaids gowns on offer so my maids wore cute ivory chiffon dresses off the high street and looked hotter than hot. In the evening (much to everyone’s delight) we filled the dance floor with music from a live rock band and as a laugh we created the “Photoframe Game” which consisted of a box full of fancy dress items and captions such as “Gorgeous” “You Rock My World” and “Kiss Me Quick”.

Made for some hilarious and pretty cool photo opportunities.

Oh and I teamed my designer dress with a £2.50 pair of red heart-shaped glasses :)

Rock My Wedding

www.rockmywedding.co.uk was born out of my love for all things Big Day related, the success of my original planning experience blog and the realisation that there didn’t seem to be a whole lot on offer for UK brides that want to do something a little bit different.

Rock My Wedding

Our aim is not to tell a Bride what she should have or how to plan her wedding, but to inspire her to have her wedding, her way -the wedding they want, not the wedding they think they should have.

Thanks Betty for letting us have some time on your fabulous blog!
Big Love
