Honeymoons are meant to be a dreamy release, a certain calm after the hectic and often stressful time that precedes a wedding. They can be close to or far from home, but, most importantly, they must transport you so that you and your new husband may have some much needed time together.
In the category of far from home, and certainly what dreams are made of (well, mine anyways!), is the Taj Lake Palace, in Udaipur, India.

Imagine staying in a palace built in 1746 by someone who was said to be the descendant of the Sun God, the Maharana Jagat Sing II. The palace is built in the middle of Lake Pichola and I can hardly conceive what it took to get such a magnificent palace built. How magical and astonishing a sight it must be.
Below is the Princely Suite with its private sundeck and absolutely breathtaking views, where you can sunbathe and enjoy peaceful warm breezes.

Perhaps you would stay in this unspeakably lovely room? Just looking at the picture makes my romantic heart flutter that such a gorgeous space exists. I am already daydreaming of delicious, private room service meals for two in a room that is also a work of art, or perhaps on the breathtaking sundeck. For an even more marvelous meal, the Taj Palace has an antique royal barge that cruises around Lake Pichola with a candlelit dinner and sitar music, which sounds so incredible it is almost transcendental.

Of course, no trip could be complete without a dip in the pool and a visit to the spa. Taj Lake Palace has both.

The Taj Lake Palace is on my list of places I simply must visit, and a honeymoon is the perfect excuse!
